Audi’s all-new Q2 has made its first official appearance on Australian soil at AHIRW.

Already turning heads in the midst of the largest Audi Hamilton Island Race Week ever, the all-new Audi Q2 will begin a six month tour of the east coast ahead of its Australian launch early next year.

In an event not short on star power, the all-new Audi Q2 has attracted plenty of attention from the record crowds attending this year’s Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. In its first Australian appearance, the all-new urban SUV has been a standout on Hamilton Island, the significance of a completely new model being spotted in the country for the very first time, not lost on guests at AHIRW.

Last year, the then new Audi R8 made a special appearance during the event ahead of its national launch, which may have primed some astute auto watchers to the possibility of another first. They have not been disappointed.

Although obviously an Audi even at a glance, the all-new Q2 boasts its own distinctive design and personality which has struck a chord with guests on seeing the car ‘in the metal’. Powerful and muscular in its stance, the Q2 captures the eye with its arresting styling, the use of ‘polygonal’ design elements making for an interplay of lines and edges which add to the dynamic look of the vehicle. The low roofline, sloping back towards the C-pillars accentuating the sporty character and promise of performance that awaits.

The overwhelming impression is one of excitement and if there has been a single word of dissatisfaction from onlookers thus far, it’s that they’ll have to wait until next year for a drive!

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to present the all-new Audi Q2 to our guests here on Hamilton Island, so far ahead of its Australian launch next year,” says Andrew Doyle, Managing Director of Audi Australia.
“This important new entry point into the Audi SUV range has its own distinctive design language, and when it arrives next year, it will really raise the bar for the level of technology available at its price point,” Mr Doyle said.

Indeed the appointment and equipment is impressive, with the Audi virtual cockpit, head-up display and infotainment systems for the Audi Q2 all coming directly from Audi models in the upper echelons of the luxury classes. Likewise many driver assistance systems, including Audi pre sense front will be offered as standard, as well as adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, the lane-departure warning system Audi side assist, the lane-keeping assistant Audi active lane assist, and cross-traffic assist rear.

The latest technology and infotainment are also at the very heart of the Q2, with Audi’s MMI infotainment and navigation system, Audi Connect, Google Earth and Google all integrated into the whole. And just as technology is integral to the all-new Q2, so too is versatility. From it urban SUV practicality, to the ability of owners to customise the look and interior of the vehicle to suit their lifestyles and personality. Be it different exterior colours, interior trim packages, LED lighting or upholstery, the Q2 offers an array of exciting personal configuration options.

Of course the soul of every Audi model is its performance, and the Q2 has already demonstrated to the world’s press that its driving dynamics are as striking as its styling.

Although the all-new Audi Q2 will not officially launch in Australia until February next year, this first appearance at AHIRW marks the start of an introductory tour that will see the striking SUV appearing along the east coast of the country over the coming six months.
