The Audi RS Q e-tron takes to the desert in earnest as the 2022 Dakar Rally begins with the Prologue from Jeddah to Ha’il.

It was an historic moment for the Audi Sport team as the Prologue for the 2022 Dakar Rally got underway and the first of the Audi RS Q e-tron took part in a special stage for the very first time in its short life to date.

All three of the RS  Q e-trons and their respective driver teams finished without incident, although some issues with the navigation equipment in Mattias Ekstrom's vehicle held up their start and saw them finish well back in the order.

Three-times Dakar winner Carlos Sainz and co-driver Lucas Cruz though showed the potential of the vehicle in competition conditions, finishing the Prologue with the second fastest time.

But there is a long way to go before reaching the finishing line in Jeddah in two weeks time.
