Gourmet escape

Margaret River’s great culinary adventure.

Audi presents the ultimate culinary event on Western Australia’s spectacular coast with the 2015 Margaret River Gourmet Escape.

22 November, 2015

For lovers of fine food and wine it is quite simply paradise. Add in the stunning surrounds of the Margaret River region on Western Australia’s picturesque coast and that special Audi touch and you have the Margaret River Gourmet Escape (MRGE).

Presented by Audi for the first time in 2015, MRGE not only showcases the stunning Geographe Bay wine region, south of Perth, but also the talents of the finest chefs from around the country and indeed the world. In all, 66 renowned chefs took part this year in the culinary event which is MRGE, with hundreds of guests immersing themselves in all the region has to offer over the course of the weekend.

A fleet of 30 Audi vehicles provided the luxury transport to guests enjoying the line-up of events that included exclusive lunches, dinners and wine tastings, all showcasing the finest produce of a region internationally renowned for its bounty.

Audi’s involvement in this celebrated event is perfectly in keeping with its philosophy of providing customers with lifestyle experiences in line with the brand’s core values.

“The Audi brand has an extensive portfolio of exceptional lifestyle events for our customers. Several of these major events take place in Australia’s most iconic destinations and Audi has experienced strong growth in Western Australia throughout the last 10 years, making this event the ideal opportunity for us to continue our commitment to customers in the West,”  says Audi Australia’s Managing Director, Andrew Doyle.

“The opportunity to present the Margaret River Gourmet Escape allows us to support a world class experience, and showcase our brand and our vehicles in a truly remarkable setting. It’s also a great opportunity to host our key clients and allows us to drive premium brand awareness and showcase what we call ‘the Audi Lifestyle‘ to the many guests who attend the event over three extraordinary days.”
Now in its fourth year, 2015 has raised the bar at MRGE beyond any previous year, with an unprecedented number of Western Australian restaurants represented as well as artisan producers and wineries involved.

The line-up of celebrity chefs alone was a veritable Who’s Who of culinary royalty. Audi ambassadors, Matt Moran and Guillaume Brahimi joined celebrated international chef Marco Pierre White, along with the likes of Rick Stein, Antonio Carluccio, George Calombaris and Adriano Zumbo to name just a few in this celebration of food and Western Australian produce in particular.

Events throughout the weekend were many and varied. Starting with the Audi Gourmet Beach BBQ, which featured Guillaume Brahimi and Matt Moran as well as the aforementioned culinary luminaries and so many more. Held on breathtakingly beautiful Castle Rock Beach, the evening boasted a perfectly understated feel to get proceedings underway, with guests enjoying seared lamb cutlets and local seafood with the water lapping just metres away.

Few places on earth could boast such a thrilling combination of sensations – and that was just the start!
For Audi customers, an exclusive breakfast featuring Marco Pierre White at The Safari Club at Leeuwin Estate was another of the many highlights and throughout the MRGE, the Audi Platinum Customer Lounge was a favourite spot to ‘relax’ between events.

Guests have been able to enjoy the very best the region and the participating chefs and wine makers have to offer, with an incredible 50 events held across the weekend. From seafood extravaganzas to collaboration dinners, to private master classes and the chance to meet and speak with chefs and sommeliers in the stunning surrounds – with so much on offer throughout the three day ‘escape’, the trick has been to pace yourself in order to make the most of this culinary heaven.
