If the name doesn’t immediately ring a bell, perhaps surfing is not your first passion, but award-winning surfboard designer, Hayden Cox is increasingly making a name for himself in the wider business world as well as changing the face of surfboard design and manufacture around the globe.
This year, Hayden will be a very special inclusion for Audi Hamilton Island Race Week when, among other – top secret activities planned – he will launch his first book New Wave Vision during the week.
The Hayden Cox story and that of the company he founded at just 15 years of age – Haydenshapes – is a fascinating and inspiring one. From a teenager doing surfboard shaping as work experience, he has gone on to create a global company based around his cutting-edge surfboard designs.
Opening his first factory at just 22, by 26 he patented a new and innovative surfboard technology called FutureFlex and his most popular model to date, the Hypo Krypto has been the best selling surfboard in the world for the past three years.
Hayden has gone on to win Surfboard of the year in Australia 2014 and 2015 and has recently added USA Surfboard of the Year to his growing list of accomplishments.
Hayden’s philosophy of pushing the boundaries of design and technology is strikingly similar to that of Audi’s own, so it was only a matter of time before the two came together. Now, a long-term friend of the Audi brand, Hayden accepted an invitation to launch New Wave Vision during AHIRW.
Although a story of Hayden’s own journey, his philosophies and what drives him, New Wave Vision also celebrates design, innovation and vision and features inspiring stories from some of the world’s most influential identities in the creative business world, including Noel Gordon – Co-founder, Google Maps, Tony Hawk – international skating sensation and Entrepreneur and Jim Jannard – Founder of Oakley.
This unique will be a highlight in a week that is already shaping up to set a whole new standard for Audi Hamilton Island Race Week.
