Announced as part of the new Audi Q5 model lineup last week, the Audi Q5 e-hybrid quattro adds another dimension to the popular mid-sized luxury SUV’s ranks. The new model will build on the great success of the original Q5 TFSI e quattro, bringing new battery technology, greater range and faster charging.

The new high-voltage battery, which has been increased in capacity to 25.9 kWh (net 20.7 kWh)  features advanced cell technology that boasts 46 percent more energy than before and uses a different configuration for th battery design.

The cells are now arranged on two levels, one on top of the other, and Audi's new cell-to-pack approach means that the cells are no longer placed in a battery module but are glued directly into the battery housing. The higher packing density means that the energy content and energy density of the high-voltage system can be increased while taking up less space. Thanks to technical developments in cell chemistry, higher electrical output is available compared to the previous generation, even at a low state of charge.

In addition, the revised interaction between the mechanical friction brake and energy recovery via the electric motor has also increased regenerative braking performance in the Q5 e-hybrid quattro, meaning that energy recovery on the go has been improved.

Capable of up to 140km/h on purely electric power and an all-electric range of over 100km, makes for tremendous versatility with the hybrid Q5, but perhaps best of all, operation is seamless and completely intuitive. Leaving you to enjoy the drive.
