Audi introduces the all-new SQ5 at Detroit International Motor Show.

The enormously successful Audi SQ5 steps up again with a stunning new model unveiled at Detroit International Motor Show.

12 January, 2017

Since its first introduction at Le Mans in 2012, the SQ5 has redefined the SUV class in terms of its performance. At the time it was the fastest production diesel SUV in the world – a title it only relinquished to its larger sibling, the Audi SQ7 some years later.

The new SQ5 brings an exciting new chapter to the model, boasting an all-new powerplant in the form of a powerful 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and a new styling dynamic that will thrill buyers in the premium SUV market anew.

Unveiled at the Detroit International Motor Show, the new Audi SQ5 TFSI features a turbocharged 3.0-litre TFSI V6 engine producing 260kW and a massive 500Nm of torque at just 1,370rpm. The sprint from 0 to 100km/h disappears in just in 5.4 seconds, while quattro permanent all-wheel drive and an eight-speed tiptronic transmission make for an unparalleled driving experience.

Optional on the new model is a sport differential that actively distributes torque between the rear wheels and the optional dynamic steering with variable ratios. Both components are integrated into the Audi drive select driving dynamics system – as are the engine, tiptronic and standard-equipment damper control.

Optional air suspension allows the driver to adjust the height of the suspension to the specific driving situation, while numerous design features and equipment packages – including S sport seats in Alcantara/leather, LED headlights and 20-inch cast aluminum wheels in a five-double-spoke star design – allow owners to tailor their Audi SQ5 TFSI to perfectly suit their needs.

Australian launch date and specification is yet to be confirmed.
