The wealth of new and revitalised Audi models arriving in Australia will continue into the new year with the announcement that Audi Australia will build on the all-new Q5 model range with the addition of both a Q5 TFSI quattro and a Q5 e-hybrid quattro models in the new year.

The third generation of the Q5, the brand’s tremendously popular mid-sized luxury range, was  one of the most eagerly anticipated launches in a year not lacking exciting new Audi vehicles.

When the all-new Q5 range arrived in Australia in September, it featured a front-wheel drive Q5 TFSI, a Q5 TDI quattro sport and the V6-powered SQ5 models all in with SUV body styles. The Sportback versions of these models have just arrived in the country (drive reviews to come) and now Audi Australia has confirmed even greater choice for customers looking at the brand’s most successful SUV model with two new drivetrain options.

The first half of 2026 will see the arrival of both the Q5 TFSI quattro with 200kW and the Q5 e-hybrid quattro with a combined output of 270kW – both models available in SUV and Sportback body styles.

“The Q5 is a cornerstone of Audi’s success in Australia, and with these latest additions, it becomes our most complete and compelling range yet,” says Jeff Mannering, Director of Audi Australia.

Not only will the new powertrains provide unprecedented choice for Audi customers, but Audi Australia has announced price parity between the plug-in hybrid and conventional TFSI models, with the Audi Q5 TFSI quattro sport and Audi Q5 e-hybrid quattro starting from $96,900* and their Sportback variants from $100,400*.

“By introducing the TFSI quattro and e-hybrid quattro at price parity, we’re giving customers genuine choice, whether they value the proven performance of petrol power or the advanced efficiency of electrification,” says Mannering.

“The e-hybrid, in particular, sets a new benchmark for performance and value, bringing electric capability within reach for more Australian drivers than ever before.”

With its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, the new Q5 TFSI quattro produces 200kW and 400Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed S tonic transmission and with power going down to all four wheels. Visually impressive, in keeping with the other members of the new Q5 range, it features the S line exterior package, 20-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof, while Matrix LED headlights with selectable light signatures offer not only state-of-the-art lighting but the ability to tailor the vehicle’s look.

Inside too the latest addition to the Q5 family combines clean, minimalist cabin design with cutting-edge technology, including the 14.5-inch OLED central display with the 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus.

The Q5 e-hybrid quattro likewise showcases a compelling blend of of leading-edge technology and equipment, with its 2.0-litre TFSI engine and electric motor combining for a total system output of 270kW and 500Nm. This represents 70kW and 100Nm more than the TFSI quattro variant, and gives the new e-hybrid a 0 to 100km/h time of a shade over five seconds (5.1 seconds to be exact) which places it firmly in high-performance territory.

Add to that its ability to travel up to 82 kilometres on pure electric power (WLTP range) and ability to use three-phase AC charging at up to 11kW, and a full charge can be achieved in as little as two and a half hours.

The e-hybrid features a black exterior styling package with anthracite Audi rings, privacy glass, and striking 20-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels paired with red brake callipers. Inside, auxiliary air-conditioning allows for pre-conditioning of the cabin before departure, while the inclusion of comprehensive charging hardware - including both domestic and public charging cables and a wall bracket – ensures seamless integration into any lifestyle.

Both new variants feature Audi’s latest MMI touch display with Android-based operating system, allowing intuitive interaction and seamless connectivity. Audi connect plus services, digital radio DAB+, and wireless charging ensure the Q5 range remains at the forefront of connected mobility.

Of course these new additions to the Q5 range will also boast the five-star ANCAP safety rating and the brand’s comprehensive safety and driver assistance systems.

These two new drivetrains are available to order through the Audi national dealer network now and are expected to arrive in Australia in the first quarter of 2026.
