What goes around …

Supporting the Audi Foundation in its most recent fundraising event has had an added benefit for one lucky participant.

Sandra Mankarios has become the seventh Audi Foundation fundraiser participant to drive away in a dream Audi.

7 February, 2022

Sandra had never taken part in an Audi Foundation fundraiser before, nor had she won anything significant in the past

When Sandra Mankarios bought tickets in the seventh annual Audi Foundation fundraiser, she did so without a second thought. It was money for a good cause and the idea of winning an Audi RS Q3 Sportback worth $more than $100,000 – though undoubtably an attractive proposition –  seemed a long shot at best.

Sandra had never taken part in an Audi Foundation fundraiser before, nor had she won anything significant in the past so she wasn’t making room in the garage at the time. The real driver for Sandra was to help the Audi Foundation and its partners continue to create positive social change right across Australian communities. And that’s exactly what she did, only on this occasion, it was a selfless intention that paid unexpected dividends.

“The charities Audi Foundation supports are close to my heart,” says Sandra. “So I was happy to get involved knowing that I would be supporting a good cause.”

So, when the call came through that she had won the car, Sandra just assumed it was a practical joke before reality started to set in.

“I’ve never won anything before. I didn’t think I’d ever win a car,” she says. “I was speechless, I just couldn’t believe it, but I was over the moon after it had hit me.”

“I was so excited I began shaking and I called my family straight away.”

Valued at $106,640*, Sandra’s new Kyalami Green RS Q3 Sportback not only makes a bold statement but delivers an incredible driving experience thanks to its high-performance pedigree.

Sandra gets the keys of her RS Q3 Sportback from Audi Foundation Secretary, Isaac Gibbs.

The RS Q3 Sportback represents something of a departure for Sandra who was driving her beloved A3 S line plus when the news of her new ride came through. But upgrading to an RS model will not be a difficult transition to make – and all as a result of helping to positively impact the wide-ranging programs of Audi Foundation’s charitable partners.

“(Before winning) I was driving the Audi A3 S line plus,” says Sandra. “I have always been and will always be an Audi fan! The RS 3 used to be my all-time favourite car until I saw the RS Q3 on the road and then that became my favourite car.”

Since its inception in 2017 the Audi Foundation has, with the help of people like Sandra Mankarios, donated more than four million dollars to its not-for-profit partners with an additional $1.5 million committed to the end of 2023.

Not surprisingly, the last two years have put great strain on individuals and communities alike and the work of the Audi Foundation and its partners has likewise been even more important in helping to drive positive outcomes and help people to deal with the unpredictable conditions.

By supporting the Audi Foundation through its fundraising efforts, funds will go towards making a genuine difference and there is always the chance that that simple act could also result in an extraordinary addition to your garage.

“The support of the Audi Foundation fundraisers is always cause for great celebration and the good that those funds do can’t be overstated,” says Audi Foundation Lead, Hayley Nissim.

“Congratulations to Sandra on winning the RS Q3 Sportback and a big thnk you to all who took part.”
