Audi S7 Sportback takes up duties with the New South Wales Police.

If you were asked to come up with the perfect pursuit special, you’d be hard pressed to go too far past the Audi S7 Sportback.

A new Audi S7 Sportback has joined the New South Wales Police Force in another community program supported by Audi Australia. With its 4.0 TFSI Biturbo V8 producing a massive 331kW of power and a whopping 550Nm of torque, performance is certainly not an issue. Demolishing the run from standstill to 100km/h takes just 4.6 seconds, so acceleration is well and truly covered. Handling – quattro permanent all-wheel drive – enormous ventilated discs provide extraordinary stopping power and the S7 Sportback lacks absolutely nothing in terms of its road presence.

The perfect high-performance police pursuit special then? Not exactly, but a brand new Audi S7 Sportback has certainly joined the NSW Police Force for a 12 month tour performing a range of important roles in something of a public liaison role.

“The Audi S7 Sportback provides an exciting and visible platform for our community and youth engagement activities,” says Superintendent Zoran Dzevlan, Commander of Lake Illawarra LAC, where the S7 Sportback will serve its time. “Our use of the S7 Sportback will encourage people of all ages to introduce themselves to local police, using the car itself to help start up a conversation,” he says of the important program that previously saw an Audi RS 4 Avant ‘sign up’ building innumerable bridges between The Force and the public.

That the Audi S7 Sportback is recognised as such a high performance, premium vehicle is certainly a conversation starter, and it is that interaction with the public on an informal level that fosters greater links between the police and their local community.

The car’s striking livery too has an immediate effect on people, a police car without a doubt, but a high-performance German police car on Australian roads?

In fact the design of the livery came as a result of some 800 people voting on Facebook – another instance of Police working with the community.

It’s just another part of Audi’s ongoing commitment to thank and support the communities that have likewise supported the brand in Australia.

“Audi has been extraordinarily successful in Australia over the last decade,” says Audi Australia Managing Director, Andrew Doyle. “We are pleased to continue to support the NSW Police Force as they engage with the youth and wider community in the Lake Illawarra region.”

“The Audi S7 Sportback has a striking presence, thanks to its sophisticated design and the sound of its extraordinary twin-turbo V8 engine, and so it is perfectly suited to making an impact at the various events it will attend throughout the course of the next 12 months,” he said.

To that end, the Audi S7 Sportback will be used in a number of community and youth engagement activities throughout the year, literally opening up a line of discussion between police and members of the community and forging stronger ties that by definition create a more unified community.

Of course driving the Police S7 Sportback is not considered a hardship by any at the Lake Illawarra Area Command, and there’s no doubting the deterrent effect the S7 has when it appears in someone’s rearview mirror. This is a car that means business.
