The 30th Auto Trophy poll, conducted by AUTO ZEITUNG has seen Audi take three coveted first place awards in 2017. Voted on by more than 40,000 readers of the influential publication, the awards carry tremendous weight within the automotive community and are greatly anticipated each year.
In 2017, a total of 260 models in 15 categories were in the running for the ‘Auto Trophy 2017’ awards, with Audi claiming top honours for two of its outstanding SUV vehicles, and a fourth award for its overall design excellence.
The new Q2 added yet another award to its already impressive list, claiming the ‘Best SUV up to €25,000’ against 22 other competitors. While the Audi Q7 picked up 16.1 percent of the votes in the ‘Best luxury SUV’ category, leading the pack of 13 fellow competitors by a significant margin.
Audi CEO Rupert Stadler commented on the increasing importance of outstanding SUV vehicles when he accepted the prize from Volker Koerdt, Editor-in-Chief of AUTO ZEITUNG.
“Both of these awards affirm the enormous interest of our customers in SUV models – from the Audi Q2 with its youthful character to the Audi Q7 with its luxury class comfort,” he said. “By the middle of the next decade, roughly one of every two Audi vehicles we deliver will be an SUV.” As well as winning these major category awards, Audi was also recognised for its design, taking out the prize for the ‘Best design worldwide’.
Speaking at the presentation, Audi design chief Marc Lichte said:
“At Audi the design always expresses Vorsprung durch Technik. Progressive design is distinguished by the complete harmony of form and function – a perfect solution that impresses with its simplicity.”
These latest three Auto Trophy awards brings Audi’s tally to 79 in the history of the awards.
