Following on from Audi’s win at Mount Panorama at the start of February, Audi Sport customer racing has added another win in the region with the all-conquering R8 LMS GT3, taking out the opening round of the GT Asia Series in Malaysia.

The Singha Plan-B by Absolute Racing customer team picked up two trophies with campaigners, Kantasak Kusiri and Bhurit Bhirombhakdi from Thailand, placing third in the first race before going on to win race two at the famed Sepang circuit in Kuala Lumpur.

Two other customer teams of Audi Sport also completed a successful showing in Malaysia, with Chinese driver pairing, Cheng Congfu and Sun Jingzu, taking second place for Absolute Racing in race one. Vincent Floirendo and Adderly Fong from Hong Kong, driving for Team EN Sport by Absolute Racing achieved third position in race two, to round out Audi’s dominant performance in the opening salvo of the series.

Closer to home, the Bathurst circuit was once again alive to the sound of high-performance cars for the running of the Bathurst 6 Hour. Audi was back on the podium once again with Vince Muriti and Tim Macrow in an Audi R8 LMS ultra taking second place ahead of Gary Higgon and Audi Driving experience instructor, Daniel Gaunt, in an Audi R8 LMS in the class for production sports cars.
