Leanne Tander and Russell Ingall share their thoughts on the Winton circuit for this weekend’s TCR round.
27 August, 2019
This weekend will see the TCR Australia series head to Winton in Victoria to contest the fifth of seven rounds in this, the inaugural Australian season. The weekend will be the first time that the format has been condensed into two days, with practice, qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday and a further two races on Sunday.
After a stellar outing at Queensland Raceway in Round 4, Russell Ingall who scored three podiums finishes in QLD and Leanne Tander share their thoughts on the Winton layout and how they feel it is perfectly suited to the Audi RS 3 LMS.
Both Ingall and Tander will again be behind the wheel of the powerhouse Audis, but at time of writing, Melbourne Performance Centre was yet to confirm who would drive the third RS 3.
Last round saw International champion, Jean-Karl Vernay make his Australian TCR debut in the third Audi, stamping his authority on the weekend with pole position and a commanding win in Race 1. Previously, Garth Tander scored the German brand’s first victory at The Bend in South Australia, and recent tests by former Super 3 title winner, Liam McAdam, in the Audi suggest that the 22-year-old may well find himself behind the wheel of an RS 3 LMS in the near future.
All three races will be broadcast live and free on SBS this weekend.
