The weekend saw Will Brown win one race and finish both of the others on the podium for his best result of the year

Audi RS 3 driver Will Brown, has ended a winless streak in TCR dating back to 2019 with an emphatic victory in Round 6 of the 2022 TCR Australia Championship over the weekend.

Driving one of the three Melbourne Performance Centre RS 3 LMS cars, Brown, who won the inaugural TCR series in 2019, capitalised on a combination of poor weather and competitor error to take the checkered flag in the final race of the weekend.

The win capped off a weekend spent on the podium for Brown who claimed second place in the first race of the meeting after teammate, Jay Hanson in the #9 Audi spun near the end giving his the chance to snatch the podium result.

In the next race, the weather again played an important part, with numerous cars involved in incidents that led to a number of early retirements. Brown managed to keep his head while so many around him seemed to lose theirs and finished the race with another podium for his troubles.

In the final race he capped off the weekend and recorded his best result for the year to date, taking the top step on the podium and his first win in the TCR series this year.

Although Brown has consistently performed well in qualifying in 2022, he has not been able to convert that speed into wins until now, his best results prior to this weekend coming in Round 2 and Round 5 at Phillip Island and Queensland Raceway respectively where he finished second.

Currently sitting in third position in the driver’s standings Brown still has a mathematical chance of

winning the title. But with only the final round remaining at Bathurst in November (11-13), Brown will need the stars to align to cement a second TCR Australia title. But with the monkey now off his back with his win at Sandown, Will Brown has shown he is a force to be reckoned with again in 2022 and in motorsport, nothing is settled until the final flag.
