Formula E 2018/19 comes down to the wire – again. This weekend in New York will decide the drivers’ and teams’ champions for season five.

It comes down to one last weekend and two more races. New York will be the scene of this year’s FIA Formula E finale with eight drivers potentially in with a title chance and the manufacturers’ title wide open with Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler currently in second and hoping to defend its title.

At the doubleheader, 58 points will be up for grabs, including the additional points for the pole positions and fastest race laps. Lucas di Grassi heading to the United States with 32 points separating him from title defender Jean- Éric Vergne. 

“As long as we have a chance in absolute terms, we’re going to give it our all. In the past, we proved more than once that the role of the hunter suits us well,” says Lucas di Grassi. 

His teammate, Daniel Abt also has a theoretical chance at a title victory, but he will be focusing on getting the best result for the team this weekend. He has also just confirmed he will continue with Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler again next season, making he an di Grassi the only team pairing to have existed since the championship began.

So, ahead of the 12th and 13th races of the season, di Grassi is in second place in the drivers’ championship with 98 points. Daniel Abt, is in eighth, only 23 points behind di Grassi – with 25 points are awarded for victory, three for pole position and one for the fastest race lap driven among the top 10 finishers. 

In addition to Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler sitting in second, the Envision Virgin Racing customer team with Sam Bird and Robin Frijns also races with the e-tron FE05 and is currently in third position on the teams’ classification.
