It was a tough day at the office for the two Audi Sport Team Valvoline cars at this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour. Riding the highs and lows of a race that is well known for its unforgiving nature, the two leading Audis both led the race at various times, but a combination of accidents and some technical issues ultimately made for a frustrating day.

The record fourth outright victory at Mount Panorama may have eluded the team, but two Audi Sport teams avoided trouble, survived the tremendous temperatures and finished their 12 hour on the podium in the Pro-Am class.

The private team of Matt Stone Racing, the all-Australian driver line-up of Todd Hazelwood, Roger Lago and David Russell finished the day the highest placed Audi team overall in 10th and clinched second in the Pro-Am category. The Hallmarc team of Marc Cini, Dean Fiore and Lee Holdsworth which has previously won the category, rounded out the Pro-Am category after a faultless drive all day.

The Aussie Driver Search car and the Hallmarc teams finished second and third respectively in Pro-Am

In the outright category there was no shortage of outstanding competitors, teams and drivers, but in particular the EBM (Earl Bamber Motorsport) team of Matt Campbell, Dennis Olsen and Dirk Werner provided thrilling finale that no one present will soon forget. With a brilliant final drive by Matt Campbell, the young Australian driver claimed the win for the EBM entry.

Congratulations to this year’s winners and all of the teams and competitors who make this such an extraordinary motor race.

An exciting 12 hours of world class motorsport right to the final lap
