A7 Sportback takes style award

Only months after its Australian release (November 2018), the second-generation Audi A7 Sportback has taken out the WhichCar Style award at a gala event in Melbourne overnight. A panel of nine expert judges selected the elegant grand tourer from a strong lineup of contenders, citing its contemporary take on the brand’s proud quattro heritage and its combination of strong visual presence and luxurious interior treatment as features separating it from the other contenders.

Accepting the award at the gala event in Melbourne’s Docklands, Paul Sansom, Audi Australia Managing Director said:

“We are delighted our progressive new Audi design language has been celebrated in this way.  The new A7 Sportback is better than ever to drive, it has a remarkable contemporary presence and it’s packed with an incredible level of innovative and integrated connectivity and infotainment features. It really is a celebration of the best of Audi design and technology right now.”

The sweeping elegance of the A7 Sportback struck a chord across the judging panel, an aesthetic carried forward from the first generation model, but given a stronger, more aggressive, contemporary look as part of the brand’s new design language. 

“Pumped-up guards, the large single-frame grille and the swept-forward stance of the trapezoidal c-pillar all point to a form that exudes confidence and strength,” wrote WhichCar.

The A7 Sportback’s interior too was singled out for special mention, WhichCar Style Award judge, Paul Beranger, saying:

“This car lets no one down when they get in. Audi offers the best interior quality bar none and this car exemplifies that.”

This year’s award is the second time Audi has taken the prestigious title, the Audi A4 Sedan was likewise honoured when it was first launched in Australia in 2016.
