The Audi A8 has been named ‘most innovative model of the year 2018’.

The Audi A8 adds to its growing list of awards, recognised as the most innovative model of the year 2018.

Ahead of its Australian launch next month, the al-new Audi A8 has added yet another award to its already long list of accomplishments, being named ‘The most innovative model of the year 2018’ overnight.

Jointly presented by The Centre of Automotive Management and consulting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the award recognised the A8’s myriad vehicle systems and advanced engineering which place it squarely at the forefront of modern vehicle technology and development.

Indeed, the Audi brand was also named as the most innovative premium brand, recognised as a leader in the ‘Autonomous driving and safety’ category.

Speaking at the award ceremony in Frankfurt, Peter Mertens (pictured below centre), Board Member for Technical Development at AUDI AG said: 

“We are absolutely delighted with these awards, They prove that with the new A8 we are at the forefront of the competition when it comes to technology and are also making a significant contribution to the important future-oriented area of automated driving.”

The Automotive Innovations Award were held for the seventh time in 2018

The Automotive Innovations Award were held for the seventh time in 2018, the most innovative automakers and suppliers of the year were singled out for praise. The manufacturer’s standings were decided based on a study of the database maintained by the “Centre of Automotive Management” in Bergisch Gladbach. An expert jury reached the decision for the suppliers, with a total of 1296 innovations from all leading automakers involving around 60 brands were incorporated into the 2018 rankings.

The all-new Audi A8 impressed the judges across the board, its active suspension singled out for special mention, while it was the Audi Aicon concept vehicle which clinched the ‘Autonomous driving and safety’ category for the brand.

For the A8, this latest award joins a growing list of international accolades, including being named the ‘World Luxury Car of the Year 2018’, ‘Connected Car Award’ and a string of Car of the Year awards around the globe.

The Audi A8 will make is Australian debut next month.
