Life changing

It’s a phone call that no one really expects, but is always welcomed by the lucky few who receive it.

The latest Audi Foundation raffle winner was convinced she was being pranked when the call came through that she’d won an RS Q8 performance.

For the latest Audi Foundation fundraising raffle winner, it was an ad on Facebook that first caught her attention and set in train what would be a life changing decision to enter. Molly Mann, had not been aware of the Audi Foundation (AF) before spotting the ad, but it was the work of the foundation and its not-for-profit partners that piqued Molly’s interest.

“I initially saw an advertisement for the raffle and decided to do some research before entering,” she says of that initial contact.

“Seeing previous winners and learning more about the incredible work the Audi Foundation supports, including organisations such as Sydney Children’s Hospital, gave me confidence that it was a worthwhile cause to support.”

As has so often been the case with the preceding 15 winners in AF raffles (even more when you take into account those occasions when a secondary prize has also been offered) Molly had never won any significant before. so her decision to support the raffle was motivated by a desire to help the work of the Audi Foundation and its partners with little more than a ‘wouldn’t it be nice’ thought in the back of her mind where the prize was concerned.

The object of that ‘wouldn’t it be nice’ on this occasion was of course the Audi Sport monster, the RS Q8 performance, valued at over $300,000 ($301,691.31 drive away). An incredible prize by any measure and a truly special vehicle that holds the title of the Audi brand’s most powerful series production model ever produced with a combustion engine. On the road that means a whopping 471kW of power at 6000rpm and 850Nm of torque between 2300 and 4500rpm, rocketing the big, luxurious SUV from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds.

Those are the sorts of figures you would expect to see quoted for a sporty two-seater, but the RS Q8 performance is no diminutive sports car, but is rather big on space, luxury, the very latest automotive technology and of course, performance.

Once again there were a total of 12,000 tickets in this Audi Foundation raffle and once again it was completely sold out. From that 12,000 tickets it was one with Molly Mann’s name on it that was drawn on the appointed day and the phone call that followed the draw is not one Molly will ever forget.

"My first reaction was complete disbelief,” Molly says, remembering the call to tell her she’d just won a $300,000 Audi RS Q8 performance.

“I honestly thought someone might be pranking me. It took a little while for it to sink in that I had actually won. Once it did, I was absolutely thrilled and incredibly grateful.”

That sense of disbelief was shared by her whole family as word filtered out of the big win.

“My family were over the moon for me. Calling them to share the news was such an exciting moment, and they were just as shocked and excited as I was. It’s a phone call I’ll never forget.”

Quite aside from the huge impact this particular Audi Foundation raffle has had onMolly’s life, her participation and that of the many people who bought tickets and lent their support continues to help make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of thousands of people right around the country.

“I’d like to thank the Audi Foundation for running such an incredible raffle and for supporting so many important charities and community organisations,” Molly says of her first Audi Foundation raffle experience.

“Winning has been an unforgettable experience, and it’s great knowing that the raffle also helps make a positive difference in the community.”

The second fundraising raffle for 2026 will soon be announced and another lucky participant will receive ‘that call’ to tell them the good news.
