New Audi Q2 unveiled
Newest member of the Audi family on show.
2 March, 2016
A new lifestyle choice aimed squarely at the younger market has been unveiled at Geneva Motor Show. The Audi Q2 adds another dimension to the brand’s SUV range, joining it larger siblings, the Q3, Q5 and Q7 with its combination of practicality for day to day urban driving and the versatility of go anywhere performance.
“We have specifically developed the Audi Q2 for young customers,” explained Prof. Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG at the vehicle’s premiere in Geneva.
“Its looks distinguish it as a model with attitude. The compact SUV blends the technical expertise of our brand with high everyday utility and emotional character.”
The newest member of the Q family will be available with powerful and efficient TDI and TFSI engines, with performance outputs ranging from 85kW up to 140 kW. The Q2 will feature a seven-speed S tronic transmission across the range, with quattro permanent all-wheel drive available in models with 110kW and above.
The emphasis is very much on sporty driving dynamics and to that end the Q2 features progressive steering as standard, as well as sports suspension and optional damper control and Audi drive select.
Other options include the all-digital Audi virtual cockpit and a head-up display. The infotainment range culminates in the MMI navigation plus with the online component Audi connect. The Audi Q2 is also brimming with the very from Audi in terms of assistance systems, with Audi pre sense front, adaptive cruise control with stop & go function and traffic jam assist which is a precursor of piloted driving.
Although its numerical designation might indicate a much smaller vehicle than its nearest siblings, the Q2, at 4.19 metres long offers plenty of accommodation for occupants as well as room for luggage and the gear of those with an active lifestyle. In addition, customers can tailor many of the details to their individual preferences and create their own specific style.
The Audi Q2 will go on sale in Europe in the third quarter of 2016, with its Australian debut at the start of 2017.
