New Audi Q8 joins Australian lineup

The flagship Audi Q8 ranks have swelled with the introduction of the New Audi Q8 50 TDI quattro.

Audi Australia has announced the arrival of a new Q8 variant with the n ew Audi Q8 50 TDI quattro joining the Q8 55 TDI quattro on the Australian market.

With its combination of supreme luxury and impressive list of standard equipment, coupled with extraordinary performance from its 3.0 V6 powerplant, the new Q8 model is a compelling proposition in the luxury SUV ranks.

Priced at the same $129,900* price point as the Q8 55 TDI quattro, the new Q8 likewise makes a strong statement with its distinctive styling and powerful road presence, further enhanced with the S line exterior package, LED headlights with high beam assist and 21-inch alloy wheels. Its opulent interior boasts spacious accommodation for five people with electrically adjustable seats in Valcona leather, front seat ventilation and heating and four-way lumbar support, while the sliding rear bench seat offers a 40:20:40 split fold for optimum configuration.

With MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch response and Audi virtual cockpit, Audi connect plus, smartphone interface and wireless charging, the level of standard equipment is extensive to say the least. There is also DAB+ digital radio, the 180W Audi sound system with10 speakers and a six channel amplifier, Audi music interface and USB outlets in the rear seats all go together to represent the highest standards in the large, luxury SUV segment.

Despite the vehicle’s size though, the Q8 50 TDI quattro delivers in the performance stakes, its 3.0 V6 TDI engine with mild-hybrid technology (MHEV) producing 210kW of power and 600Nm of torque, which allows it to see off the sprint to 100km/h in 6.3 seconds. With a lightening-fast eight-speed tiptronic transmission and of course quattro all-wheel drive, the large, luxury SUV is surefooted and planted in all road conditions, add to that the adaptive suspension with damper control and with its ride height and ground clearance, is as comfortable when the blacktop ends as it is cruising the highways or dicing with a mountain road.

Safety is yet bother in which the Q8 50 TDI quattro excels, with a 5-star ANCAP safety rating and a full complement of driver assistance systems – 39 to be precise, which include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive drive assist (adaptive cruise control with stop & go, with traffic jam assist), lane departure warning, pre-sense front and rear, lane change warning, cross traffic assist rear, head-up display and 360 degree cameras which include kerb view.

Even the wing mirrors (which are of course electrically adjustable) are heated and have memory function and the curvaceous tailgate opens and closes electronically.

For those looking to further enhance their Q8, the Premium plus package priced at $11,000 features 22-inch alloy wheels in 5-arm design (or an additional $1000 for 22-inch alloy wheels in 5-V-spoke design) , adaptive air suspension, HD Matrix LED headlights, privacy glass. In addition there is the sublime 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, four-zone air conditioning with rear touch control panel and the colour interior lighting package.

A full leather package is available for $8,900 which adds a suite of additional items in fine Nappa leather.

Customers can also purchase the comprehensive Audi service plan package for $2,040 for three years or $2,960 for five years.

The Audi Q8 50 TDI quattro is on sale in Australia now, and can be researched through the new Audi online purchasing platform or in dealerships, or a combination of both – depending on the customer’s preference.
