Q2 sizes up Australia

The all-new Audi Q2 is currently ‘on tour’ around Australia, getting a feel for its new home.

After making a special appearance at Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, the all-new Audi Q2 has embarked on a limited stop Australian tour ahead of its 2017 national launch Down Under.

The only all-new Audi Q2 in the southern hemisphere has begun a whistle-stop public display tour of Australia’s eastern seaboard starting with an installation at Sydney’s new Barangaroo district. A selection of motoring journalists and social media influencers toasted the arrival of the new model with bespoke cocktails – and the occasional haircut – last night at The Barbershop, the exclusive speakeasy/parlour-style European bar and grooming salon on the western edge of the CBD.

Youthful and provocative in its styling, the newest member of the marque’s stable will appear at Barangaroo until September 23, before spending the weekend on display at The Grounds of Alexandria, the incredibly popular, vibrant café/gardens space in the city’s inner-west.

The compact, all-round city SUV/crossover Audi Q2 will next stop by at Primavera, the 25th edition of Museum of Contemporary Art’s showcase of young Australian artists, presented by Audi, from 28 September to 4 October.

Leaving Sydney, the Q2 will appear on the Gold Coast at a pop-up event at James Street, dubbed ‘The Resort’, from 12-16 October, before visiting Brisbane’s upscale Pacific Fair from October 17-20. From October 27-30 it will appear in another pop-up event, ‘Emporium’ in Melbourne from October 27-30.

The local-specification Audi Q2 is slated to arrive in February, with prices beginning at $41,000 for the 1.4L TFSI model.

“Combined with its versatility, the new Q2 will really carve out its own segment in the compact SUV segment,” said Andrew Doyle, Managing Director of Audi Australia, “and over the course of the next few weeks, we can’t wait to show it off to the many prospective customers that have already expressed interest.”
