More than half a million fans of film from all over the globe are expected to visit this year’s Berlin Film Festival – the 68th running of the Berlinale. Boasting a multitude of international stars of the silver screen, as well as noted directors, producers, writers and musicians, the international film festival will show more than 350 films during the nine day celebration.
Audi has been the main sponsor of the Berlin International Film Festival for five years, each year presenting an extensive cultural program during the festival as well as sponsoring the Audi Short Film Award.
Audi vehicles also play an important part throughout the festival, each year chauffeuring the celebrities to Marlene Dietrich Platz for the various film premieres, this year the new Audi A8, Q7 e-tron quattro and A7 Sportback were the vehicles charged with delivering the luminaries safely to the centre of activities.
As well as the many film screenings, the festival also hosts numerous talks, concerts, lectures and interactive workshops around film. The Berlinale Open House presents exclusive talks and panel discussions in which experts examine cultural issues. Film experts discuss topics such as storytelling in animated films or what car chases will look like in the future, when cars can drive autonomously. In the evening the Berlinale Lounge Nights provide a relaxing way to end the day with concerts and a film quiz. The highlight of the program is an evening focused on the cult series Breaking Bad.
