Even for those familiar with Ken Block’s unique approach to driving and film making, Electrikhana is a wild ride.

It’s here at last and it was well worth the wait – a dazzling sequence of lights and action in one of the world’s busiest cities makes Electrikhana something very special – even for Ken Block.

Driving the one-of-a-kind Audi S1 e-tron quattro Hoonitron which was especially developed by Audi for Block, and featuring a number of greats from Audi’s motorsport history, the film is next level in every respect.

From drifting along in front of the Eiffel Tower, to jumps, high-speed power slides and donuts around some of the brand’s most iconic race cars – and even Mr Le Mans, Tom Kristensen himself – the team at Hooligan have gone all out in the city that never sleeps with this one.

Sharing the screen – albeit briefly – with the wild S1 e-tron quattro Hoonitron is a feast of Audi automotive gold laid on by Audi Tradion. It includes the the Audi 90 IMSA GTO (1989), the Audi 200 Trans Am (1988), Audi Sport quattro S1 Pikes Peak (1987), the Audi quattro Gruppe B A2 (1984) as well as the Audi R8 LMP and Audi R18 e-tron quattro from Le Mans.

Those with an eagle eye will notice an interesting addition inside the cabin of the S1 e-tron hoonitron in the shape of a ‘dancing figurine’ on the dashboard. Reminiscent of Elvis, it is called ‘The Fan’ and featured in a series of television ads nearly 20 years ago for Audi multitronic transmission. We’ll revisit that in a later story.

As for the S1 Hoonitron – it is a fitting star of the show and paints e-mobility in a completely new light. With its two electric motors, e-quattro all-wheel drive, a carbon fibre chassis and instant power on tap, it is pure performance. Despite being a one-off for Ken Block, it also fully complies with the safety standards of the FIA, motorsport’s governing body. Its body shell, for which Audi Design led by Marc Lichte is responsible, immediately evokes memories of the legendary Audi Sport quattro S1 carved its name into the famous Pikes Peak hill-climb race. Now the Audi S1 e-tron quattro Hoonitron, in the hands of the master, Ken Block, is doing the same on the streets of Las Vegas.
