While the excitement in Melbourne continues to build ahead of this weekend’s Qatar Airways Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, Audi Australia chose the morning calm of the Yarra River to introduce the all-new Q3 to Australia.
The first of the new Q3 range to arrive Down Under, this Sportback version in Sage green was flown into the country specially as part of Audi’s Formula 1 celebrations, sitting surrounded by some other standouts vehicles from brand on the AFLOAT installation on Melbourne’s Yarra River.
Pricing and specification was announced late last year, the range kicking off in Australia with the Q3 SUV and Sportback TFSI 110kW priced from $61,600* for the SUV version with the Sportback from $64,600*. A special Audi Q3 SUV TFSI 110kW Launch Edition will also be offered for a limited time priced from $67,000* with a launch edition Sportback from $69,000*.
More powerful 150kW versions also feature quattro all-wheel drive, with the Audi Q3 SUV TFSI 150kW quattro S line coming in at $70,200* again with at the equivalent Sportback model at $72,700*. In this category too, Audi Australia will offer special Launch Edition variants priced at $74,600* and $77,100* for the SUV and Sportback variants respectively.
Headlining the range for now at least, will be the Q3 SUV TFSI 195kW quattro ($81,9000*) and the Q3 Sportback TFSI 195kW quattro at $84,400*.
The new Q3 Sportback is one of four Audi vehicle’s taking pride of place on the stunning Audi AFLOAT venue – a huge permanently moored pontoon on the Yarra that will serve as the off-track centrepiece of the Audi Revolut F1 Team and its public headquarters for the duration of the Australian Grand Prix weekend.
Complete with a swimming pool and enormous outdoor screens, AFLOAT will welcome guests throughout the weekend for refreshments and the chance to get a closer look not only at the new Q3 Sportback, but also the Audi RS Q8 performance – the major prize in the coming Audi Foundation raffle – as well as at Audi race cars past and present.
Celebrating not only a particularly successful period in motorsport for the brand but a link with Australia, the Audi R8 Crocodile car also on display at AFLOAT represents the very cutting edge from 25 years ago. The car’s unique livery, cerated especially for the Race of a Thousand Years in Adelaide in 2000 – a race which it won – was a nod to its first international Le Mans race on Australian soil and is quite a departure from the traditional racing livery. The Audi R26 of course represents the present and the future, the first Formula 1 car to come from the brand and featuring a powertrain developed in-house, this all-new Formula 1 car will take the four rings onto the track for an exciting new chapter.
