Your next RS

Although performance enthusiasts will have to wait until next year to actually get behind the wheel of the all-new Audi RS e-tron GT, there is a way to park the very first all-electric RS model in your home before then.

Measuring 18 centimetres and weighing in at just 1.87kg, this particular RS e-tron GT has been faithfully reproduced in 1:18 scale. Produced with a tremendous eye for detail, the limited edition  model captures the sleek, aerodynamic design that Audi Chief Designer, Marc Lichte has called the most beautiful car he has ever conceived, and a design which was recently recognised in the Golden Steering Wheel awards.

Every aspect of the car has been perfectly reproduced in miniature, from the aerodynamically-designed wheels to the intricate Singleframe grille treatment, RS badging, Matrix LED lights and even the instrument cluster in the cabin.

Of course no model, no matter how detailed or beautifully finished will capture the stirring performance of the real thing. The sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 3.3 seconds, the high-tech ‘thrum’ as the two electric motors rocket the first all-electric RS model forward on the way to the 250km/h top speed.

Nor can the model impart a sense of the handling of the electric grand tourer, with its e-quattro all-wheel drive and low centre of gravity, thanks to the placement of its 95kWh battery in the floorpan. But it does faithfully capture the sleek form and the 0.24 drag coefficient of the full-sized car, and indeed every essence of the Audi design language. 

For those waiting to get their hands on the full-sized production model when it arrives Down Under next year, the scale model will make an ideal ‘place holder’ in the meantime and give you something to unwrap on Christmas Day in anticipation.
